The grammar school has 16 classes, 32 pedagogues. The school head is RNDr. Elena Kacvinská. The deputies are Ing.Igor Marko and PaedDr. Dušan Zajac. In addition to the main building, the grammar school also houses the Janka Jesenskeho House where pupils of the second and third year are taught. The following subjects are taught: Slovak, Literature, Mathematics, English, German, Russian, Spanish, Informatics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Social Science, History, and Physical Education.In the third year, the pupils choose 2 subjects from which they will have seminars and will subsequently graduate from them. The school ends with 14:00 at the latest. Inside the school there is a buffet where pupils can buy a snack.
The school offers pupils to study at the grammar school for 4 or 8 years. The school organizes various excursions and trips, e.g. to Orava, Rome, London or Cern and also ski training courses. Also, pupils can engage in different projects such as DofE, “Kde budu doma” and many more. It also offers the opportunity to engage and collaborate on writing a school magazine.
For the first year students the school organizes the matriculation (welcoming freshmen). In the fourth year pupils have a ribbon ceremony, where they prepare an entertaining program for their teachers and parents.They have a dinner and after midnight they start dancing and have fun until the morning. In March, they are expected to take written final exams in English, Slovak, and two of the subjects they have chosen in the third year. If they successfully manage them, they will take an oral part in May and will then take the entrance exams to get to colleges and universities.
